About Our Teenage Classes
English Language students work in small groups with our qualified ESOL teachers to build confidence in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading, writing and functional English. This class is well suited and orientated to students between the ages of 10/17. EGC English course is align with the Official Cambridge Examination board.
Working in Groups Will Cover:
- A minimum of 25 hours per week of dedicated English Language tuition
- Tuition delivered by qualified CELTA/TEFL English teachers
- Students will have the daily opportunity to practice speaking in structured conversations
- Lessons will be project orientated and will require students to present information to the class, using their spoken language skills
- Students will read from modified texts and will learn various strategies to assist with comprehension. They will also develop analytical skills to interpret literature and images.
- Students will be writing on a daily basis, practicing grammar structures and learning new vocabulary. They will write a variety of personal narratives, descriptions and reports.
Learning Outcomes
We expect all students to engage with course concepts by thinking, reading, writing and participating to the best of their ability.
This will include working as part of a team, but also working on individual assignments.
- Our primary goal is to provide constructive feedback on course work and engage students in conversation. A report will be drafted upon completion of each term, which will discuss what was covered in class, areas for development, strengths and individual contribution.
- Learning outcomes for all classes see our students grow in confidence and develop their overall communication skills and to progress unto further study either in higher education or professional courses.

English Level Assessment
At EGC we use the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in relation to all learning, teaching, and assessment.

- Beginners are generally A1-A2, Intermediate B1-B2, Advanced C1-C2.
- Students will be assessed at the beginning of the course to ensure that they are placed in the class most appropriate to their level. As these classes are an effective way of learning to think and communicate as a native speaker.
- Our goal is to build overall confidence in our students through lessons which are fun, interesting and relevant to student’s future academic and further integration needs.

1. Job Details
Job title: EFL Teacher
Minimum qualifications: TOEFL, IELTS, CELTA and a first degree
- Students will have the daily opportunity to practice speaking in structured conversations
- Lessons will be project orientated and will require students to present information to the class, using their spoken language skills
- Students will read from modified texts and will learn various strategies to assist with comprehension. They will also develop analytical skills to interpret literature and images.

2. Job Purpose
To prepare and teach high-quality, engaging and fun Task-Based Learning lessons to Young Learners as part of the academic programme.
3. Main Duties
- Students will have the daily opportunity to practice speaking in structured conversations
- To take part in a teachers’ induction led by EGC & Joint Venture.
- To assist with the testing of students upon starting at the centre.
- To foster a professional relationship with students under 18 years of age.
- To teach students, ensuring all lessons are adequately prepared and delivered.
- To write detailed student reports upon completion of their course.
- To ensure all paperwork and record-keeping is up-to- date and submitted in a timely manner.
- To ensure that all aspects of classroom teaching run smoothly and safely with a member of staff at their centre.
- To behave at all times in accordance with the School’s code of conduct with one of the staffs contact number at their Centre.
- To carry out any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by their centre.
- To arrive punctually for classes and be well prepared which is carried out with an assigned EGC coordinator.
- To give adequate notice when teacher is unable to attendant the class and replace immediately by another appropriate teacher.
- To use teaching techniques appropriate to the level and needs of the students in a positive learning environment.
- To consider individual learner needs and styles when planning and delivering lessons.
- To make lessons engaging and enjoyable with a focus on student communication and participation.
- To share best practice with fellow teachers and be involved in the Continuing Professional Development programme.
- To undergo observation and subsequent feedback sessions as part of the EGC programme.
- To teach exam preparation courses where required (such as preparing students From A1 to C2 exams).
To follow the school’s safeguarding policy and to undergo safeguarding training our teachers are vigilant towards the students well-being.
4. Knowledge, Skills and Experience of EGC Teachers
Essential:
- A first degree.
- CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL qualification.
- English proficiency.
